In Memory of Ray Marcum

Ray “Donny Ray” Marcum, 73, of Stonecoal Creek Road in Kermit, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2020. He was the son of the late Ransom and Bessie Marcum of Stonecoal Creek Road. Donny Ray was a born-again Christian and kept his faith and hope in Jesus Christ. After many years of service, he retired from the WV Division of Natural Resources Parks and Recreation Service at Laurel Lake.
On February 7, 2020, Donny Ray celebrated 50 years of marriage with the love of his life, Mavis (Block) Marcum. He is survived by three children: Travis (Linda) Marcum of Louisa, KY; Wendy Fitch of Williamson, WV; and Tracie Fitch of Williamson, WV. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Shawn Marcum Esquire, an attorney in Washington, D.C.; and Dr. Shannon Marcum of Louisa, KY. Donny Ray has one living sister, Regena (Paul) Johnson of Columbus, OH; one brother-in-law, Marvin (Teresa) Block of Crum, WV; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Block and Myrna Kay (Block) Smith of Arizona; lifelong friends Walter and Diana Spaulding of Kermit, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Donny Ray is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Nannie (Amos) Marcum, Virginia (Otto) Grogg, Sally Marcum, and Verna (Bob) Meade; six brothers: Roland (Mary) Marcum, Ernest (Lois) Marcum, Clifford (Mildred) Marcum, Bill (Mildred “Pid”) Marcum, Robert “Bob” (Betty) Marcum, and Ervin (Betty Mae) Marcum; and several close friends.
The visitation and funeral service will be held at Mullins Family Funeral Home in Warfield, KY on Monday, February 17, 2020, with Rev. Joe Mullins officiating. The visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM with the funeral immediately following. He will be laid to rest at the Damron Cemetery on Stonecoal Creek Road in Kermit, WV.
