Obituary for Paul Marcum

Paul Marcum 82 of Philo, OH; gained his angel wings in the early morning hours of October 18, 2020 due to injuries sustained by an automobile accident. He was born on March 24, 1938 on Jennies Creek in Wayne County, WV to the late Sam K. and Mary Dillon Marcum. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Kelly, Liss, and Jim Marcum, and sisters, Sarah Collins Stroud, Bell Shad-wick and Pauline Williams and infant sister, Nancy. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Owen and Alta Mae Aldridge Maynard as well as several in laws.
He married the love of his life in August 1960, a union that lasted 60 years. He is survived by his wife; Verlaa Mae and their children; Paul Douglas (Tyla) Marcum and Denise (Joe) Rush. He has the following grandchildren; Paul Jefferey (Kendra Rutherford) Marcum, Sarah Marcum, Kadie Rush, and Mikaela Courtney, also great grandchildren, Paul Kaleb, Kaydence Lee, Adrianna Voncile, and Kellin Oliver. Paul is also survived by his two brothers, Robert (Francis) Marcum of Vinton, OH and Dave (Louise) Marcum of Columbus, OH and two sisters, Jose Boyer of Racine, OH and Florence Fletcher of Gallipolis, OH and many nieces and nephews that he loved unconditionally but to numerous to list. Paul is also survived by his in laws, Mary Perry of Ft. Gay, WV and Nary Baisden of Columbus, OH.
Paul was a man of many talents having owned Marcum Roofing for many years, but his most favorite thing was driving his race car, watching the Cleveland Browns, West Virginia Mountaineers, and deer hunting with his brothers, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Mullins Family Funeral Home with funeral services being conducted on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Jessie Jay Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery on Webb Rd, Crum, WV. In response to the covid-19 virus, social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks required for all attendees.
