Odessa Messer 89, of Kermit, WV went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She was born on March 12, 1932 to Ira Spaulding and Melinda Dawson Spaulding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Messer and grand-daughter, Courtney Sharece Messer, son-in-law, Ernie Robertson, daughter-in-law, Judy Messer, brother-in-laws, Cecil, Burly, Early, Lonnie, Gabe, and Arvel as well as two sisters, Pricy Smith and Bell Dillon. She was a devoted wife, mother, and a member of the Welcome Home Church of Jennies Creek, WV. She enjoyed being with her family, cooking, going to church, beautiful flowers and singing.
Odessa is survived by her children; Ernestine (Jim) Wood of Ohio, Phyllis Robertson of Ohio, Willie Messer of Marrowbone, WV, Johnny and Bertha James of Kermit, WV, Arvel and Sharrie Messer of Kermit, WV, Danny and Lisa Messer of Kermit, WV, Bobby Messer of Kermit, WV, Mary Jo Messer of Kermit, WV, Sharlene and Timothy Longnecker of Ohio, Tammy Bembry of Ohio, and Linda Cantrell of Lavalette, WV, as well as 16 grandchildren; Jimmy, Kelly, Marsha, Jonathan, Tiffany, Jamie, Josh, Justin, Odessa Danielle, Kristen, Brandon, Timothy, Megan, MaKayla, Mya, and Rob, as well as 12 great grandchildren, Kiera, Logan, Eli, Bailey, Brantley, Brody, Hallie, Caleb, Jax, Journey, Kaden, and Jace.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Mullins Family Funeral Home at 11:00am with Freddie Messer Jr. and Daniel Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Kelly & Odessa Messer Cemetery of Jennies Creek, WV. Visitation will be on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the funeral home from 6-9pm.
