Melvin Bowen 76 of Hode, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. He was born on April 7, 1943 in Hode, KY; he was a son of the late Velma Bowen Kirk. Melvin was preceded in death by his children; Paul Bowen, John Luther Bowen and Melissa Bowen as well a grandson, Paul Luther Bowen, and brother, Clifton Bowen. He was an electrician as well as a member of the Warfield Church of God.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 57 years; Marian Sue (Horn) Bowen of Hode, KY as well as children; Mitchell (Denise) Bowen of Hode, KY, William Arthur (Crystal Robinette) Bowen of Lovely, KY, Joshua (Tiffany) Bowen of Hode, KY, and Samantha Michelle (Bruce) Valentine of Lexington, KY as well as 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. Melvin also leaves behind his siblings; Elmer Kirk of Pilgrim, KY, Billy Ray Kirk of Beauty, KY, Jeffery Kirk of Lovely, KY, Chester Kirk of Pilgrim, KY, Michelle Bowen of Ohio, Linda Kay Marcum of Lovely, KY, and Wilma Lee Staton of Wolf Creek, KY as well as an extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Mullins Family Funeral Home with funeral services conducted on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Mullins Family Funeral Home with Bill Davis and Joe McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow in the Melvin Bowen Cemetery of Hode, KY. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Melvin Bowen.
