Kennie Messer 94 of Kermit, WV; went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 14, 1927 in Mingo County, WV; he was a son of the late Freelin and Mary Evans Messer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Messer in 2000, sons, Kennie Jr. and James Kenneth Messer as well as his siblings; Sarah Bell Messer, Pauline and Cristine Messer, Jesse, Russell, Bill, Gene, Lonnie, and Curtis Messer. Kennie was a heavy equipment operator, United State Army Veteran, and member of the First Stepptown Baptist Church.
Kennie is survived by his sons, Larry Messer of Louisa, KY, Glenn Messer of Kermit, WV, Michael Messer of Dunlow, WV, daughters, Brenda James of Dunlow, WV, Kim Messer of Kermit, WV, Agnes Stiltner of Milton, WV, and Kendra Salmons of Kermit, WV as well as 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Donald Messer and Pearlie Messer of Kermit, WV. A special thanks to a special nephew, Jesse “Boy” Messer, for his years of care you given to Dad.
Visitation will be from 11am-12pm on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Mullins Family Funeral Home with services to immediately follow with his son, Glenn Messer officiating. Burial will follow in the Messer Family Cemetery of Jennies Creek, WV. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Kennie Messer.
