Obituary for Kathy Sue Fitzpatrick
Kathy Sue Fitzpatrick, 67, of Kermit, West Virginia, finished her race with dignity as she went home to be with the Lord, following a brief illness, on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Kathy was born on January 12, 1954, to the late Amos and Hazel Preece. She was also preceded in death by her sisters; Judy Kay Preece, Patricia Ann Preece, Oudia Meurer, and Emmie Preece, her brothers; John Preece, Sherman Preece, and Clarance Preece, her special friend, Kathy Hilton, her California son, Wayman Cheung, and the love of her life, Asa Fitzpatrick, Jr.
Kathy left behind by her daughter, Trina Ann Fitzpatrick of Kermit, WV, her son, Cory Asa Fitzpatrick of Kermit, WV, her grandchildren; Santana, Jocelyn, and Caiden, her siblings; Amos (Ann) Preece, Jr., Hershel “Hubcap” (Mary) Preece of Crum, WV, Linda L. Hiott of Florida and Keenis Preece of Louisa, Kentucky. She also left behind numerous other family members and friends who will miss her terribly.
Kathy, a devout Christian, was a long-term member of the East Kermit Church of God. She lived her life to the fullest and spent her time enjoying the things she loved the most. She was an avid gardener and took great care in preserving the food she raised. She could often be found volunteering in the community, spending time with her precious grandchildren, caring for the family dog, Jack, unwinding with friends on a much-needed vacation, or simply spending time with her beloved family. Kathy earned many titles in her life. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, a caring sister, a treasured friend, and was perhaps most widely known as everyone’s Nan.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at the East Kermit Church of God on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Otis Linville officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her Pug at the Fitzpatrick Cemetery on Marrowbone Creek Road, Kermit, WV. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Kathy Sue Fitzpatrick.
