James W. (JW) Young 73 of Varney, KY went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. He was born on July 26, 1946 in Varney, KY; he was a son of the late Luther and Dora Ray Young. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as sister, Justine Young Maynard Phillips (Oscar Maynard) as well as her last husband, Rex Phillips who resides at Varney, KY. JW was a retired logger as well as a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Piso Freewill Baptist Church.
JW is survived by his wife; Sandra Lee Roberts Young of Varney, KY as well as son; James Luther (Debbie) Young of Pikeville, KY, daughters, Selenna Dawn (Larry) Hylton of Varney, KY, and Tonja Ann (Scott) Arnold of Lexington, KY as well as 8 grandchildren; Jami Lauren Young, Gentry Marie Arnold, Austin Channing Stevens, Sydney Grace Arnold, Savanna Lee Arnold, Quinn Morton Arnold, Riley Jean Arnold, Kaegan Dean Hylton. He is survived by his brothers, John Luther (Joyce) Young and Gary Ray (Kathy) Young and the late Sharon Young. JW is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Jean Young Stanley and the late Ezra Lee.
Visitation will be after 4pm Tuesday and all day Wednesday and until time of services on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00am at the Piso Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Piso Freewill Baptist Church at 11:00am with Bobby Mullins and Darren May officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Family Cemetery of Varney, KY. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of James W. (JW) Young.
