Obituary for James Glenn Sluss

Reverend James Glenn Sluss was born August 4, 1929 in Warfield, KY. Glenn served the Lord for over 64 years; pastoring two Freewill Baptist Churches and missionary work overseas. Glenn had several adventures in gas, oil, furniture, coal mining, and insurance. Glenn enjoyed the outdoors and poetry. One of his favorite sayings was “That’s wonderful.”
Glenn passed away at his home in Catlettsburg, KY on August 22, 2020 at the age of 91. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Rosa Vanover Sluss, 6 brothers, Hobert, Herbert, Richard, Luster, Dexter, Chester, 3 sisters, Jane, Audrey, Geraldine and his first wife; Betty Jo Hobbs Sluss.
Glenn is survived by his wife; Shirley Smith Sluss, his son, Randy (Sherry) Sluss, daughters; Vicki (Roger) Deskins, Melissa (Gary) Horn, 2 step children; Connie Adkins and Curt Smith. Glen has 7 grandchildren; Jason (Ashley) Deskins, Tracy Jude, Brandon Sluss, Kameron Horn, Gary C. (Haley) Horn, Lydia Horn and Colten Horn as well as 6 great grandchildren; Kane, Brayden, Stone Jude, Jaylee, Kingston, Jaselee Deskins and many nieces and nephews.
A walk thru visitation will be observed on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 5-9pm at the Mullins Family Funeral Home. The family has requested that due to the COVID-19 virus that all attendees walk thru the funeral home and pay their respects and walk on out. They ask that all wear a face covering as well as no hand shaking nor hugging. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 12:00noon at the Lovely Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Lonnie Smith, Danny Hall, and Greg Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in the Warfield Cemetery of Warfield, KY. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of James Glenn Sluss.
