James Ronald “Jimmy” Asbury 50 of Kermit passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born March 23, 1971 at Cabell Huntington Hospital to Ronnie and Doris Herald Asbury.

Although born with Down Syndrome, Jimmy defied all odds and lived a full and extraordinary life. He enjoyed spending countless hours playing his Playstation 4 and Ipad. He was a devoted and lifelong fan of professional wrestling. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him, held many conversations about wrestling as it was the only topic he wanted to discuss most days.He could be considered an expert with his knowledge and passion for wrestling. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the houseboat with Mammie and Pap and spending time at their store in Dunlow. Many qualities made him unique, but above all, he was both sweet and funny. You could even call him a prankster. All potential companions of family members had to pass the Jimmy test, and he never failed to give his brutally honest opinion. He had a deep love for music especially country and gospel.

Preceded in death by grandparents Curtis and Millie Asbury and Wayne and Edna Herald, and loving father Ronald Asbury. He is survived by his mother, Doris; two sisters Rhonda (Matt) Clovis, Melissa (Jim) Nessing; two nieces Sarah (Jeff) Blackburn, Rachel (Todd) Doss, and nephew John Cagigas; a great nephew Wade Blackburn and great niece Joelle Doss; as well as numerous wonderful friends. He has left a special place in everyone’s heart. He lived “the life of Riley” as he so famously coined.

Graveside services only at the Asbury Cemetery of Dunlow, WV on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1:00pm with Bobby Perry officiating with visitation being one hour prior to services at the cemetery. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of James Ronald “Jimmy” Asbury.
