Obituary for Ira Hodge Sr.
Ira Hodge Sr. 67 of Kermit, WV; departed from this life and entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 7, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Ira was born on September 23, 1954 in Lenore, WV; he was a son of the late Glen and Stella (Bowen) Hodge of Naugatuck, WV. He was a strong, devoted family man whom loved, supported, and protected his family at all cost, to the best of his ability. He was truly an inspiration and role model of what a true husband and dad is suppose to be; he was the true rock and backbone to his family. Ira loved to cut up and make others laugh and thoroughly enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Wherever there was work to be done, that’s where you would find him. He was a Godly man who loved to worship the Lord. His love, faith, and devotion to the Lord will forever be admired and used as a light for his families path, both from past into the future. He was a coal miner by trade and was proud of the years he put towards his job, making a living to provide for his family.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Stella (Bowen) Hodege, 4 brothers; David, Wendell (Gaye), Butch (Gayle) Hodge, and Ronnie (Connie) Marcum and 1 sister, Catherine (Russell) Catron.
He leaves behind a whole host of family and friends who will sorely love and miss him always. His loving wife, whom he adored and spoiled for 40 years, Deborah Hodge, 2 sons, Ira Jr. (Mary Sue) Hodge, Jason (Rita) Hodge and his daughter, Melinda (DA) Bragg, and 9 wonderful grandchildren; Hannah Hodge, Katelyn Hodge, Kyle Hodge, Jacob Bragg, Joseph Hodge, Jordan Hodge, Ryan Hodge, Liam Hodge, and Jacey Bragg, and 1 great grandchild, Melody Hennessey. Ira also leaves behind two brothers, Mike (Debbie) Hodge, Donald (Pauline) Hodge, and two sisters, Joyce (William) White and Wanda Hodge.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm til 9:00pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the East Kermit Church of God with funeral services being conducted on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 12:00pm at the church with Otis Linville officiating. Burial will follow in the Selwyn Brewer Cemetery of Rosetown Road, Kermit, WV. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Ira Hodge Sr.
