Obituary for Harmon "Cannonball" Canterbury Jr.

Harmon (Cannonball) Canterbury Jr. 73 of Lenore, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends who loved him dearly. He was born on December 7, 1946 in Lenore, WV; he was a son of the late Harmon Sr and Mary Magalene Hitchcock Canterbury. Harmon is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Gayle Salmons, sister, Rhoda Marcum, brother, Jess Canterbury, and sister, Francis Maynard. Cannonball was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Laurel Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Harmon is survived by his spouse, Karen Copley Canterbury as well as his children; William (Jessica) Smith of Paintsville, KY, Harmon Gregory Canterbury of Georgia, Kenneth Shane Canterbury of Gilbert, WV, Teresa (Robert) Walls of Georgia as well as 7 grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Silas Edward Canterbury of Ohio and his 2 special cats, Brooke and Trouble as well as special family members, Mose (Judy) Newsome of Lovely, KY, Gary Copley of Ft. Gay, WV, Ronald Copley of Crum, WV, Jerry (Nykoa) Fleming of Lenore as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 6-10pm and Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 6-10pm with Special services at 7:00pm on Sunday night at the Laurel Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:00am at the church with James Ed Baisden and Jimmy Daryl Newsome officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY. In response to the COVID-19 virus, all attendees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the laurel creek freewill Baptist church.
