Obituary for Gary L. Jewell
Gary L. Jewell 63 of Lovely, KY passed away suddenly on December 12, 2019 at his mother’s home. He was born on April 30, 1956 in Johnson County, KY; he was a son of the late William Ray Jewell and survived by his mother, whom he thought the sun rose and sat in, Elsie Davis Jewell of Lovely, KY.
Gary was a retired coal miner from Peter Cave Coal. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his three brothers, Leroy (Linda) Jewel of Warfield, KY, Darrell (Christine) Jewell of Lovely, KY and David (Elizabeth) Jewell of Louisa, KY as well as a sister, Renee (Rick) Slone of Lovely, KY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly, Angie Thornsbury, Dalena Jewell, Eric Jewell, Regina McCoy, Jason Jewell, Philip Jewell, Brittany Moore, Taylor Thornsbury, Austin McCoy, Darrian Jewell, Cole Jewell, Shae Jewell, Brody Jewell, and one special nephew, whom he loved like a son, Nik Slone, as well as many extended family and friends. He also leaves behind a person very close to his heart, Debbie McCoy.
Everyone that knew Gary knew he was always a true friend that enjoyed making others laugh and living life to the very fullest. He would give you the shirt off his back and has. There was no bigger fan of the Kentucky Wildcats other than Gary, “GO CATS.”
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Union United Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Harmon officiating. Burial will be at the Jewell Cemetery of Little Peter Cave Road, Lovely, KY. Visitation will be after 6pm on Saturday at the church.
