Freda Kegley Chaffin 81 of Stone Coal, WV; born September 9, 1940 in Shelby, Ohio to the late John and Rosa Crose Kegley, departed this life on February 18, 2022: carried by the Angels to her eternal home in Heaven. Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jesse Chaffin, whom she married when she was 16 years old. At the time of her husband’s death, Freda and Jesse had been married for 52 years. Freda was also preceded in death by 6 brothers; Norman, Earl, Dexter, John, Hollie, and Jimmy Kegley and 2 sisters; Esther Swanger and Zenith Adkins.
Freda leaves behind 2 sisters; Donna and Don Kiser and Della and Sherlin Horn both of Shelby, Oh and one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Janet Chaffin and one daughter and son in law, Judy and Arthur Jude of Stone Coal, WV as well as 2 grandchildren and their spouses; Amy and Tim Hunt of Ft. Gay, WV and Michael and Megan Chaffin of Stone Coal, WV. Freda also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren; Courtney and Trenton Baisden, Mikayla (Brian) Campbell, Cameron Chaffin, Kaylee and Ally Hunt, Kaydence and Kynlee Chaffin as well as 2 great great grandchildren, Karson Baisden and Waylon Cambell and a baby Campbell on the way. And she also leaves behind her very special friend that she loved dearly, Denise Chaffin and a host of friends that she loved and they loved her.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at the Kermit Freewill Baptist Church from 11am-1pm with funeral services being conducted at 1pm with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcum Cemetery of Stone Coal, WV. In response to the COVID-19 virus all attendees are asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
