Obituary for Eugene Walker

Eugene Walker, 82 of Prichard, WV went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2020 at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was one of fourteen children, and was born on June 16, 1938 to the late Charles and Sally Walker. Eugene is remembered by some as having been an exceptionally good baseball player and helped lead the Crum High School Mountaineers to a State Championship as their pitcher. He was a retired electrician in the coal mines and very much enjoyed home improvement projects, taking care of their little dog Bentley, and gardening. Along with his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by two brothers; Roscoe and Kim Walker, two sisters; Virginia Lee Sheppard, Armelda Faye Kumer, and stepson; Rickey Newsome. Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorene Brewer Walker, children; Michael (Melissa) Walker of Alburn, GA, Bruce (Paula) Walker of Snellville, GA, Paulette (David) DeGrood of Lumberton, NC, and Stephen (Christy) Walker of Bolivia, NC. Stepchildren; Diana (Jeff) Woods of Commercial Point, OH, Leva Spaulding of Kermit, WV, and Steven (Dimple) Newsome of Kermit, WV. Siblings include; Leo (Marie) Walker of Delbarton, WV, Curtis (Betty) Walker of Greenup, KY, Charles (Dorthy) Walker of Glenhayes, WV, Eda (Bill) Tilley of Crum, WV, Pauline (Roger) Ferguson of Dunlow, WV, Walter (Sue) Walker of Louisa, KY, Patricia Ann Walker of Crum, WV, Melvin (Virginia) Walker of Crum, WV, Billy Ray Walker of Fort Gay, WV along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There are not enough words to express how much Eugene was loved and will be missed by his family. A graveside ceremony for family and close friends will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Brewer Cemetery at Pickling Tub, Marrowbone Creek, WV with Rayburn May officiating. In response to Covid-19, the family has asked that all attendees wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Flowers may be delivered to Mullins Family Funeral Home and will be brought to the ceremony. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Eugene Walker.
