She was born in Stepptown, WV on June 28, 1930 to the late Christopher Columbus Chaffin and Delilah Hammond Chaffin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 9 siblings: Millard, Mabel, John, Harlen, David, Lafe, Florence, Daisy, and Dillard. Dorothy is survived by her 2 children, Joyce (Johnny) Litton and Ronnie (Melody) Howell both of Stepptown, WV, three grandchildren, John (Norma) Litton, Jason (Barbara) Litton, Travis Howell, seven great grandchildren, Lexie Howell, Sydney Litton, Jacob Litton, Matthew Litton, Jessica Litton, Haylen Howell, Julianna Howell, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy’s Drive Inn for more than 60 years where she loved serving her customers and considered them her extended family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If Dorothy was not spending time with her family, she was either in the kitchen or hanging out with her customers.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her wonderful friend and caregiver, Virginia Parsley and the nurses and caregivers at the Martin County Health Care Facility.
