Clifton (Bug) Allen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Palm Coast, Florida from prolonged complications of Black Lung disease.
Bug was born July 11, 1948 on Jennie’s Creek in Wayne County, WV. In 1968 after serving in the Army, he went to work in the coal mines of WV and KY, where he spent 28 years. He took great pride in his work, particularly that on the “continuous miner”. Bug enjoyed life to the fullest and was seldom idle, having many interests/hobbies including: auto mechanic, drag racer, dirt bike rider and hill climber, horseman, hunter/shooter, trader, fisherman, motorcyclist, and cattle/poultry farmer. Most will remember him for his practical jokes, quick wit, and a sense of humor that was legend. He was many things to many people: brother, co-worker, uncle, dad, friend, and simply- “Pap”.
He is preceded in death by his father Ervin, mother Armenda, sisters Imogene, Brenda, Donna Sue, Drema and his brother Ervin Jr (Ernie). He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years Betty (Spaulding) of Palm Coast, his son Gary (Danyel) of Redmond, WA, two sisters Alberta Chapman and Polly Allen, brother Al Spaulding, and three grandchildren that he adored: Sidnie, Sara, and his namesake, Samuel Clifton. He left an impression on everyone he met and will forever be loved and greatly missed.
Viewing will be at Mullins Funeral Home in Warfield, KY on Sunday, June 6 from 6pm to 8pm. The funeral will follow the next day, Monday, June 7, at 11:00am with Ken Allen officiating. Burial will occur in the Fitzpatrick-Brewer Cemetery on Marrowbone Creek near Kermit, WV. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Clifton Bug Allen.
